Activities of the London Opera Guild
The London Opera Guild is an association of people who are deeply interested in opera and is open to anyone on payment of a nominal fee.
The Guild was founded over thirty years ago as an organization dedicated to the encouragement of opera and especially to help provide support for the Canadian Opera Company.
We have continued and expanded this original purpose, so that now we also support the productions of UWOpera, provide scholarships to five opera students at the Don Wright Faculty of Music, Western University,
who win these scholarships in our annual scholarship competition. In 2011-2012 we also began giving tickets to high school students so that they could attend productions of UWOpera.
The Guild also hires a bus for travel to the Canadian Opera Company's Sunday matinee performances.
The annual Scholarship Winners concert
The annual Scholarship Winners concert is usually presented on the first Sunday in November. In 2018, however, the concert will be on Sunday, November 18, at 2:00 p.m. in St. James Westminster Anglican Church, 115 Askin St., just west of Wortley Road.
