Activities of the London Opera Guild
The London Opera Guild is an association of people who are deeply interested in opera and is open to anyone on payment of a nominal fee.
The Guild was founded over thirty years ago as an organization dedicated to the encouragement of opera and especially to help provide support for the Canadian Opera Company.
We have continued and expanded this original purpose, so that now we also support the productions of UWOpera, provide scholarships to five opera students at the Don Wright Faculty of Music, Western University,
who win these scholarships in our annual scholarship competition. In 2011-2012 we also began giving tickets to high school students so that they could attend productions of UWOpera.
The Guild also sells individual tickets to performances by the Canadian Opera Company and hires buses to take people to the COC's Sunday matinee performances.
These two activities are the main sources of revenue for the money we give annually to the COC, to UWOpera and to our scholarship funds.
The annual Scholarship Winners concert
On the first Sunday afternoon in November, we hold our annual LOG Scholarship Winners concert.
Admission is by donation.
