London Plastic Bag Project
One reusable bag can hold the content of 2-3 plastic bags, sometimes more. Put another way, one reusable bag can prevent up to 125 plastic bags from being used per year. That's a lot of plastic bags! Plus, there's no double bagging, and they don't end up as litter. They are sturdier, so no spilled groceries. And they are often easier to carry than plastic bags.

Jute is a natural fibre that is entirely biodegradable, that requires no pesticides in its production and requires no environmentally unfriendly products in its transformation. The Avani Creations supplier of jute in India is in the process of getting fair trade certification. Enviro-Tote, Inc. (www.enviro-tote.co) This 100% woman-owned company makes all their own bags locally. They have bags made from organic cotton, recycled plastic and regular cotton.
